Through Him

2 Peter 1:3

His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence.
 2 Peter 1:3

There is something in us that quietly resists the fullness of that phrase, “all things.” We nod at it, underline it, maybe even quote it, but we often live as if it is not quite true. Like, we are still missing something essential. One more breakthrough. One more resource. One more version of us that is finally enough.

But Peter does not leave room for that kind of thinking.

He says “all things” have already been granted. Not earned. Not unlocked. Not waiting on our performance. Granted; fully, decisively, completely.

Those “all things” do not come from us. They do not originate in us. And ultimately, they are not even centered on us.

They come “through the knowledge of Him who called us to His own glory and excellence.”

Everything we need flows from a Person.

Not a principle.
Not a program.
Not a better version of us.

Jesus Himself.

Which means the source of our strength is not our discipline.
The source of our growth is not our effort.
The source of our sufficiency is not our potential.

It is Him.

Not “Do I have enough?”
But “Am I drawing from Him?”

Not “What am I lacking?”
But “Am I abiding in the One who lacks nothing?”

When we recognize and embrace the truth Peter is sharing, we stop trying to manufacture what has already been given and start living from what has already been secured.

Lord, we confess how quickly we live as though something is missing, as though Your provision is not enough. Thank You that in Christ You have given us all things we need for life and godliness, not because of us, but through Him alone. We surrender our striving and trust You to work in us, through us, and for Your purposes.

All from Him,
