Resist

1 Peter 5:9

Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.
1 Peter 5:9

After warning believers about the adversary, Peter gives a simple instruction: “Resist him.”

He does not tell them to chase the enemy or to obsess over him. The call is simply to stand firm.

Resistance in Scripture often looks quieter than we expect. It is not dramatic confrontation as much as steady faith. It is choosing to remain anchored in what we know to be true.

Peter says believers resist the enemy by being “firm in your faith.”

The battlefield, in many ways, is trust. The enemy whispers doubt, fear, and discouragement. Faith answers by holding on to God’s promises even when circumstances feel uncertain.

Peter also reminds his readers that they are not alone. The suffering they experience is shared by believers throughout the world.

That reminder matters.

Isolation can make struggles feel unique and overwhelming. But the family of God has always walked through hardship together. Across generations and across nations, believers have faced similar trials and remained faithful.

Standing firm does not remove difficulty. But it keeps difficulty from determining our direction.

Father, when fear or doubt presses in, strengthen our faith to stand firm. Thank You for showing us that we are not alone in our struggles. Help us hold fast to Your promises and trust Your presence.

Standing Firm,
