Remembering What We Have Tasted

1 Peter 2:3

If indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good.
1 Peter 2:3

Peter appeals to memory, not theory.

Christian faith is not built on abstraction; it is built on encounter. We do not follow Christ because we have analyzed Him perfectly, but because we have personally tasted His goodness.

To taste is to experience; to know not just about grace, but to be changed by it. And once we have tasted something truly good, we know the difference between nourishment and imitation.

Peter assumes this experience. “If indeed you have tasted…” He is saying, “You know this. You’ve been here before.”

When trials come, memory matters. When obedience feels costly, remembrance steadies us. We return again and again to what we know of God’s kindness, even when circumstances blur clarity.

God’s goodness is not seasonal. It does not disappear when life gets hard. We do not cling to explanations; we cling to character.

Good and gracious Lord, remind us of Your kindness when faith feels thin. Help us remember what we have already tasted and trust You again. Let memory fuel hope.

Holding on to His Goodness,
