Not a Myth

2 Peter 1:16

For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
2 Peter 1:16

There is no shortage of voices offering meaning, ideas that sound compelling, narratives that feel convincing, perspectives that promise clarity. Some are creative. Some are persuasive. Some are even comforting.

But Peter draws a clear line. What he proclaims is not crafted imagination or a carefully constructed story. Peter is not speculating about Jesus. He is testifying about what he personally saw.

The glory of Christ was not invented; it was revealed. The power and coming of Jesus are not built upon human creativity, but upon divine reality breaking into history.

The gospel is not imagination dressed in religion, “Not cleverly devised myths…”

Not constructed.
Not exaggerated.
Not invented.

This is not human brilliance; it is divine revelation. And that matters more than we often realize. Because when life presses in, what holds us steady is not what sounds good, but what is true.

We are not anchoring our lives to shifting ideas; we are anchoring them to a Person who does not.

Lord, we confess how easily we are drawn to what sounds appealing rather than what is true. Thank You for a faith that is grounded in reality and revealed through Christ. Help us remain anchored in truth when other voices compete for our attention. We surrender our tendency to drift and fix our trust in You.

Grounded in Reality,
