But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
2 Peter 3:13
The Christian story does not end with escape, but with renewal. God is not abandoning His purposes for creation. He is bringing them to fulfillment. New heavens. New earth. Not a thin spiritual existence detached from all substance, but a restored reality under His perfect reign.
Redemption is bigger than rescue from judgment. It includes restoration, healing, and renewal. He will make right all that sin has fractured. Every groan in creation, every ache in the human heart, every longing for wholeness points forward to that day.
Looking and waiting for those future changes impact us now. His promise keeps despair from becoming final and reminds us that brokenness is real, but not ultimate. We possess the language for grief without surrendering hope to it.
The world is not as it should be. But it will not remain as it is forever. God is not finished.
Lord, we confess that the brokenness of this world can wear on us and make hope feel thin. Thank You for promising not only rescue, but renewal. Strengthen our hearts with the vision of what is coming, and help us live as people who believe restoration is real. We place our sorrow and our longing before You and wait for the world You will make new.
