For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For when he received honor and glory from God the Father, and the voice was borne to him by the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased,”
2 Peter 1:16-17
Peter did not speculate; he proclaimed: “We made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
The gospel was not a hidden truth. It was declared openly because Christ had revealed Himself. Peter had seen His Majesty. He had heard the voice from heaven.
The Transfiguration pulled back the veil, and Christ’s true glory was revealed.
This is not distant theology. It is a living reality.
The story of redemption is moving toward fulfillment, and history itself is moving toward His return.
Which means our lives should be marked by expectation.
Expectation in suffering.
Expectation in obedience.
Expectation in waiting.
Because the story is not finished.
Father, we confess how often we live as if eternity is distant. Thank You that Your promises are active and sure. Help us live with anticipation and purpose. We surrender complacency and embrace hope.
