And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures.
2 Peter 3:15–16
Peter acknowledges that understanding some things in Paul’s letters is hard. His writings are not unclear in a careless way, but deep in a way that requires humility.
Faith is not built on having every answer. It is built on trusting the One who has revealed Himself clearly, even when not everything is fully understood.
We can be tempted to think that difficulty is a problem to eliminate. But often, difficulty is an invitation to slow down, to lean in, to depend more deeply on God rather than on our own understanding.
Not everything in Scripture is simple. But everything in Scripture is trustworthy.
Lord, we confess that we often become frustrated when we don’t understand everything quickly. Thank You that Your Word is deep, rich, and worth pursuing. Give us the humility to learn, the patience to grow, and the trust when clarity takes time. We place our understanding beneath Your wisdom and continue to follow You.
