And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

Greed does not always look like excess; it often looks like subtle self-centeredness. A quiet desire to gain, to benefit, to take rather than give.
Peter exposes what lies beneath false teaching: not just error, but motive.
Because what drives a message often shapes the message.
When the heart is centered on self, truth becomes a tool. Words become a means to an end. People become something to be used rather than served.
But the way of Christ moves in the opposite direction. Not taking but giving. Not exploiting but serving. Not elevating self but laying it down.
And the more we walk with Him, the more that shift begins to take place within us.
Lord, we confess how easily self-interest can shape our words, our decisions, and our relationships. Thank You for the example of Christ, who gave Himself fully. Purify our motives and align our hearts with Yours. We lay down self-centeredness and ask You to form a servant’s heart within us.
