And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures.
2 Peter 3:15–16
Peter returns once more to patience, but now he names it clearly. What feels like a delay is actually salvation at work.
God’s patience is not empty time; it is redemptive time. Every moment of waiting carries the possibility of repentance, the extension of mercy, and the opportunity for someone to turn and be made new.
And when we begin to see it that way, waiting changes. It is no longer simply something to endure; it becomes something to value. Not because it is easy, but because it is purposeful.
We begin to realize that the same patience we experience is the patience others still need. The same grace that gave us time is still being extended to them.
Lord, we confess that we often grow impatient with Your timing and forget the mercy behind it. Thank You for the patience that led to our own salvation. Help us value what You are doing in the waiting and extend that same patience to others. We surrender our urgency and trust Your redemptive purposes.
