Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace.

Peter ends the verse not with effort, but with peace. That matters. Because the kind of diligence he calls for is not meant to produce anxiety; it is meant to lead us into settled trust.
Peace, not because everything around us is calm, but because everything within us is anchored. Peace, not because we have figured everything out, but because we know the One who holds it all together.
And there is something deeply compelling about that kind of life. A life that is serious about holiness, but not burdened by fear. A life that is intentional, but not restless. A life that is awake yet at rest.
The fruit of living in right relationship with God is not striving to secure peace, but receiving it as we walk with Him.
Lord, we confess that we often live with quiet anxiety, even as we try to follow You. Thank You for offering peace that does not depend on circumstances. Teach us to live from that peace, not striving to earn it but resting in what You have given. We lay down our anxious efforts and receive Your steadying presence.
