Ransomed

1 Peter 1:18

knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold
1 Peter 1:18

Ransom language belongs to the marketplace and the prison yard. It speaks of slavery, bondage, chains we could not break.

Peter says we were ransomed; not improved, not upgraded, not polished. Ransomed and bought out of captivity.

And the captivity was not Rome or politics. It was sin, futility, and the empty way of life inherited from a broken world.

We did not free ourselves. We were freed. Our story is not self-rescue; it is divine intervention.

Grace did not negotiate our release; it purchased it in full.

Jesus, thank You for setting us free from bondage we could never escape. Help each of us walk in the freedom You bought for us.

Living Free,
