The next day again John was standing with two of his disciples, and he looked at Jesus as he walked by and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!” The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus. Jesus turned and saw them following and said to them, “What are you seeking?” And they said to him, “Rabbi” (which means Teacher), “where are you staying?” He said to them, “Come and you will see.” So they came and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day, for it was about the tenth hour. One of the two who heard John speak and followed Jesus was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. He first found his own brother Simon and said to him, “We have found the Messiah” (which means Christ). He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon the son of John. You shall be called Cephas” (which means Peter).

Before John ever followed Jesus, he was already searching for God.
He had become a disciple of John the Baptist because he longed for the promised Messiah. His heart was prepared long before his feet began following Christ.
Everything changed with a simple invitation. “Come and you will see.”
Jesus could have delivered a lecture or demanded immediate commitment. Instead, He invited John into a relationship. The same invitation still stands before us.
Christianity is not merely learning facts about Jesus. It is learning Jesus Himself. It is spending time in His presence until His heart becomes our heart, His priorities become our priorities, and His character begins to shape our own.
John never forgot that first day with Christ. Decades later, he still remembered the hour they met. Some encounters with Jesus leave permanent fingerprints on our souls.
The longer we walk with Christ, the more we realize that spiritual maturity is not measured simply by how much Scripture we know but by how closely we abide with the One who gave it. We cannot reflect Christ if we rarely spend time with Him.
Our relationship with Jesus begins exactly where John’s did, with an invitation to come, remain, and know Him personally.
Lord Jesus, thank You for inviting us into fellowship with You. Draw us near each day and cultivate in us a deeper desire for Your presence than for anything this world offers. Help us not simply to know about You, but to know You personally and walk closely with You.
