But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
2 Peter 3:18
Peter ends where everything must end, with glory directed to Christ. Not to the believer’s effort. Not to the teacher’s words. Not to the church’s success. To Him. To our Lord.
Because everything we have read, everything we have been called to, everything we are becoming, it all flows from Him and returns to Him.
Glory now, in the way we live, trust, obey, and reflect Him in the present. And glory forever, in the day when what is now partial will be complete, when what is now by faith will be by sight.
The final orientation of the Christian life is not self-centered, but Christ-centered. Not drawing attention to ourselves, but directing it toward Him. And in that, there is freedom. Because we are no longer living to prove ourselves, we are living to reflect Him.
Lord, we confess that we often live for our own recognition and lose sight of Your glory. Thank You that our lives find their purpose in pointing to You. Reorient our hearts so that everything we do reflects Your worth. We offer our lives again for Your glory, now and forever.
