Peter closes with a final pastoral warning: Take care. Pay attention. Be watchful.
Not because the Christian life is fragile, but because drift is subtle. We are rarely carried away all at once. It happens slowly. Gradually. Through small compromises, quiet neglect, and unnoticed shifts in affection and attention. And before long, what once felt central begins to feel distant.
Peter calls us to awareness. Not fear, but attentiveness. A life that remains near to Christ, near to truth, near to the practices that keep our hearts steady.
Because we do not stay anchored by accident, we stay anchored by abiding.
Lord, we confess that we are more prone to drift than we realize. Thank You for warning us with love and calling us to remain near. Help us stay attentive to our hearts and anchored in Your truth. We choose to draw close to You again and trust You to keep us steady.
