In Balance

2 Peter 2:9–10

Then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment, and especially those who indulge in the lust of defiling passion and despise authority.
Bold and willful, they do not tremble as they blaspheme the glorious ones,
2 Peter 2:9–10

Peter’s words provide balance: rescue for the godly, accountability for the unrighteous. Both held together in the justice of God.

God’s patience is purposeful, not passive. What is wrong is not ignored, even if it is not immediately addressed.

Understanding the Lord’s eventual judgment should not make us prideful; it should humble us. Because apart from Christ, we stand in the same need of mercy.

So we trust God with what is beyond us. His justice is perfect. His timing is right.

Lord, we confess that we sometimes struggle to understand Your timing and justice. Thank You that You are righteous in all Your ways. Help us trust You fully and walk humbly before You. We surrender our need to figure everything out and rest in Your perfect judgment.

Humbled Before His Justice,

eep
