For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love.
2 Peter 1:5-7
Peter now shifts from provision to participation.
God supplies. We respond.
“Make every effort” means intentional diligence. Grace empowers effort; it does not eliminate it.
Faith is foundational, but it is not meant to remain alone.
Virtue means moral excellence.
Knowledge means discernment grounded in truth.
Self-control means disciplined restraint.
Steadfastness means endurance under pressure.
Godliness means reverent devotion.
Brotherly affection means familial love within the church.
Love means self-giving commitment for all.
This is not a ladder to earn salvation. It is the fruit of salvation.
Growth is deliberate.
Spiritual maturity does not drift into existence. It develops through intentional dependence.
Father, forgive passive faith in us. Thank You that grace invites growth. Help us pursue Christlike character intentionally. We surrender complacency and pursue transformation.
Growing Intentionally,
eep
