Casting All

1 Peter 5:7

Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
1 Peter 5:7

Peter now shows what humility looks like in everyday life.

It looks like “casting our anxieties on God.”

The word “casting” carries the sense of throwing something off of ourselves, letting it go rather than continuing to carry it. It is the same kind of motion someone might use to toss a heavy load from their shoulders.

Most of us know how difficult that can be.

When worries settle into our minds, they tend to stay there. We rehearse possible outcomes, analyze them, and return to them repeatedly. Our thoughts divide in every direction, trying to manage things we cannot control.

Peter offers a different response: bring it all to God.

Not just the large concerns.
Not only the spiritual struggles.
All of them.

The reason is beautifully simple: “because he cares for you.”

That care is not distant or general. It is personal. The same God who holds the world together also attends to the details of our lives.

The cross reminds us of that. The resurrection confirms it.

We do not cast our anxieties because life suddenly becomes easy. We cast them because we are not meant to carry them alone.

And the One who invites us to release them is deeply attentive to our needs.

Father, we confess how tightly we cling to our worries. Thank You for caring for us more than we often realize. Teach us to bring every concern to You and to rest in Your faithful care.
