The Life We Actually Want

March 2, 2026
1 Peter 3:10–11

Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit; let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it.
1 Peter 3:10–11

Everyone wants a good life. Peter does not dismiss that desire; he redirects it. A good life is not found in comfort but through restraint and initiative.

Words shape environments. We restrain ourselves by:

Not venting every thought.
Not winning every argument.
But guarding speech and chasing reconciliation.

Peace requires pursuit. We often think peace happens when others change. Scripture says peace grows when we move first. Pursue means initiative; the believer walks toward resolution, not away from it.

Jesus described peacemakers as blessed because they reflect the heart of God. God always moves toward reconciliation before we move toward Him.

The life we long for grows where restraint and initiative walk together.

Father, how easily our words create tension. Thank You for pursuing peace with us through Christ. Teach us careful speech and courageous initiative. Shape our habits toward peace. We trust Your path leads to the life we seek.

Pursuing Peace,

eep
