Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.
1 Peter 3:7
Peter now turns to husbands, and he begins with understanding.
Not authority.
Not control.
Not demand.
Understanding.
To live in an understanding way means to be attentive, patient, emotionally present, and spiritually aware. It means learning her heart, listening before fixing, and caring without controlling.
Biblical leadership is relational before it is directional. Intentional. Sacrificial.
To understand our wives is to study their story, their fears, their dreams, their wounds, their joys.
Marriage cannot be maintained by default. Marriage will not flourish by accident. Marriage must be cultivated by devotion. Love must be practiced. Actions must be intentional.
Peter reminds husbands that spiritual leadership begins with emotional presence. To understand is to honor. To listen is to love.
Understanding is an act of worship.
Lord, teach us to love with wisdom and patience. Help us listen with humility. Give us insight into the hearts You have entrusted to us. Shape us into servant-leaders who reflect Christ.
Loving with Wisdom,
eep
